Ashley Chisholm is a PhD Candidate at the University of Ottawa. Her doctoral research focuses on the intersection of health services and policy research with health professions education and aims to investigate the role of health professionals in health system transformation. Ashley has a Master of Science in Community Health & Epidemiology from Dalhousie University where she studied the impact of caregiver burden on hospitalizations in the province of Nova Scotia.
In addition to her academic background, Ashley has over 7 years of experience working in health policy at Canadian Medical Association and Canadian Nurses Association. Ashley has contributed her expertise to developing policies and strategies that address various health-related issues both in Canada and globally. Through her work she aims to understand the complexity of factors that influence health and social circumstances, including the health system’s influence on population health.
Ashley has demonstrated her leadership in Primary Care research through serving on the Board of Directors for the North American Primary Care Research Group as the first Canadian Chair of the Trainee Committee from 2020-2021.
