Students, faculty invited to public forum on assisted suicide
Thursday, November 14, 2013
The Public Law and Legal Philosophy Research Group at Western Law will host a public forum on recent developments in the law of euthanasia and assisted suicide.
Western Law professors Grant Huscroft and Bradley Miller will join Professor John Keown of the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University on Friday, November 15 at 12:00 pm in Room 52 of the Faculty of Law.
Professor Keown is an internationally recognized expert on the law and ethics of euthanasia and his work has been cited by the US Supreme Court, the English Court of Appeal and the House of Lords. He was an expert witness for the Attorney General of Canada in the recent constitutional challenge, Carter v. AG (Canada). Professor Miller made submissions in that case on behalf of an intervenor in support of the Attorney General. Carter will likely be before the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014.
