Schulich Medicine Resident receives Vanier Canada Scholarship

Congratulations to Dr. Faizal Haji, on receiving a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. Dr. Haji is a resident with the Division of Neurosurgery and Clinician Investigator Program at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and a PhD candidate in Medical Science, Institute for Medical Sciences, at the University of Toronto. Dr. Haji is one of a handful of students who has been provided the opportunity to pursue his PhD at the University of Toronto, while simultaneously being registered in Schulich Medicine & Dentistry's Clinician Investigators Program.
Dr. Haji's research project is entitled: "The effect of simple-to-complex simulation training on novice skill acquisition and procedural errors in lumbar puncture: a prospective, randomized study". Simulation research is of critical importance in the development and design of curricula for a new generation of physicians. His research has recently been disseminated in the journals, Advances in Health Sciences Education, Medical Education, and The Journal of Neurosurgery. With his work in this area, Dr. Haji is quickly positioning himself to become a leader in this emerging field.
