Gait and Brain Week
Friday, September 6, 2013
The Gait and Brain Lab in conjunction with the Division of Geriatric Medicine and the Western Visiting Scholar Program is proud to announce the upcoming "Gait and Brain Week" at Western from October 21 to October 27.
There are several activities scheduled throughout the week including lectures, trainee meetings, and seminars at Western and affiliated teaching hospitals to spread awareness to students, faculty members, clinicians and researchers interested in the area of aging and brain health. The activities will highlight the importance of the interaction of cognitive and mobility problems as key events in the pathways of the aging disability.
Our keynote speaker for the "Gait and Brain Week" is Professor Olivier Beauchet, Chair of Geriatric Medicine and Neuroscience at the University of Anger, France. Dr. Beauchet will share his leading research in the field of gait disorders and dementia in the elderly and how they may lead to future mobility decline, falls, fractures and mortality in senior people. He will also explore potential strategies for treatments.
