In memoriam - Dr. James McDonald (Jim) Robertson

Schulich Medicine & Dentistry wishes to extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Dr. James McDonald (Jim) Robertson. Dr. Robertson was a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics since 2005. His career at Western spanned 43 years, beginning in 1971 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventative Medicine, as it was then named.
Dr. Robertson will be remembered as a valued friend and colleague by faculty and staff. He was highly respected by graduate students, and he made strong contributions to graduate education during his career. His research program was in the field of environmental and occupational epidemiology, with sustained contributions in the study of the health of workers in the carbon black industry.
His contributions to Western continued during his retirement and included many years of ongoing service on the Ethics Review Board for Health Sciences Research involving Human subjects, an activity he continued as an Emeritus Professor until June 2013. In addition to being a committed member of the Western community, Dr. Robertson was a devoted partner to his wife of 37 years, Judy Robertson.
Dr. Robertson's legacy is one of distinguished service to Western and, in particular, graduate education. A graduate scholarship fund will be announced at a future date
