Dr. Bill Clark honoured for his achievements
Monday, October 22, 2012
Congratulations to Dr Bill Clark who was just awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for 'outstanding achievement' and specifically for his public service over many years for the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
These medals were instituted in 2011 to mark the 60th Anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne. There are Canadian and British versions and there is a very specific ribbon with blue, white and red stripes and the medal itself has an effigy of the queen and a Latin inscription on one side and the royal cypher, a diamond field and 4 maple leafs on the other. In other words, this is rather special.
This is a huge honour for Bill, for our Division of Nephrology, the Dept of Medicine and the Schulich School. We are very proud of Bill. He is a star in may areas - clinical care, research, public service and even occasionally golf ! The Kidney Foundation has supported research and patient care initiatives for decades and Bill has devoted endless time and energy to advocacy and fund raising on its behalf. Just last week, another Mens Fashion Show event organized mainly by Bill raised in excess of $50 K for the Kidney Foundation. All of us who work with him know how 'relentless' in organizing events and raising funds that keep the Kidney Foundation healthy and strong in this region and nationally. It was the advocacy efforts of the Kidney Foundation on Bill's behalf that led to him receiving this award and I think their efforts are a testimony to how much they appreciate Bill.
Well deserved Bill. We are all so proud of you
