October 22 - Gairdner Lecture featuring Michael Rosbash
Tuesday, October 16, 2012
Dr. Michael Rosbash, 2012 Canada Gairdner Laureate, will discuss "Circadian Rhythms: Molecules, Neurons and Circuits" in Auditorium A, University Hospital, on Monday, October 22nd at 10:30 a.m.
Rosbash is one of three scientists from Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, recognized for their discovery on how our circadian clock - commonly known as our biological clock - ticks. This affects patterns of sleep and wakefulness, metabolism, and our response to disease.
Throughout October, the Gairdner Foundation welcomes the 2012 Canada Gairdner award recipients to schools across Canada through its national program lecture series celebrating biomedical science. The national program reaches over 6,000 students at 21 universities across the country each year.
Among the world's most important biomedical research awards and a source of national pride, the awards are a major indicator of leading scientific discovery. Schulich Medicine & Detnistry and Robarts Research Insitute are pleased to welcome a 2012 Canada Gairdner Award recipient as they present their future-shaping research to our students and community members.
