In memoriam: Dr. David C. Way
Wednesday, April 6, 2011
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. David C. Way on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in St. Petersburg, Florida. David was born here in London on August 5, 1924, graduated from Central Collegiate, attended the University of Toronto where he earned his D.D.S. degree. Following his service with the Canadian Forces, he came to London and practiced general dentistry for a few years. Following this short period, he decided to specialize in orthodontics and he moved to Ann Arbor where he earned his Master's Degree at the University of Michigan. He returned to London and opened his practice which was the second orthodontic practice in London at that time.
In addition to his practice, David got involved in local, provincial and national dental politics and made significant contributions. In 1966, he became involved in the newly established dental school at UWO and taught orthodontics in the D.D.S. program. In 1973, he joined Stuart Hunter in the graduate orthodontic program and served as the first clinic director until his retirement in 1988. To celebrate his retirement, his former students and friends established the D.C. Way Graduate Orthodontic Alumni Endowment Fund at Foundation Western. Our sympathy is extended to the family.
