Western Cares Food Drive underway
Thursday, December 2, 2010
The annual Western Cares Campus Food Drive is up and running for 2010.
Held in conjunction with the city-wide Business Cares Food Drive, the campaign helps support the London and Area Food Bank, which provides emergency food and other items for more than 3,000 people monthly - 42% of them children - and more than 30 other social service agencies in the London area.
Last year Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry helped contribute to the drive's city-wide record total of 218,000 lbs. of food. Business Cares would like to beat that this year, and Schulich can play a big part.
What: Western Cares Campus Food Drive. Drop off food donations (or baby formula or diapers) to help support the London and Area Food Bank. If you're able, bring in 3, 6, or 9 cans of food during the drive!
Where: Drop off locations (shopping cart and drop boxes) include the front lobby of the Medical Sciences Building, the lower lobby of the Dental Sciences Building, and the lobby of Robarts.
When: Nov. 24 to Dec. 10
Why: To support the London and Area Food Bank, which provides emergency food items for more than 3,000 people each month -- 42% of whom are children. Not being able to feed one's family is a significant stress faced by many people living in our own community. Let's help ease the burden by doing our part to support those in need.
Get creative with your donations and see how much your department/group can contribute. Planning a holiday lunch or event? Ask people to bring food donations! If you would like a box (and/or posters) in your area, contact Todd Devlin at ext. 89332 or at todd.devlin@schulich.uwo.ca.
