Windsor nephrologist to offer advice on avoiding kidney disease
Monday, November 22, 2010
An estimated 2 million Canadians suffer from chronic kidney disease. Millions more have related conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Dr. Amit Bagga, medical director of the renal clinic at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital, will discuss how to prevent kidney disease in his free public lecture, "How to avoid a nephrologist-think outside the kidney!" on Tuesday, November 23, at 7:30 p.m. in room 202, Toldo Health Education Centre.
This talk, part of the Schulich Windsor Health Lecture Series, will cover:
- an overview of normal kidney function;
- an explanation of dialysis;
- the effects of having one kidney;
- a day in the life of a nephrologist.
The series has been organized by students at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry - Windsor Program to help educate the public about health issues. For more information, visit the series Web site, www.swhls.com.
