Chair of Medical Imaging named

Dean Carol Herbert is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrea Lum as Chair of the Department of Medical Imaging, effective July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2013.
Dr. Lum graduated from medical school at The University of Ottawa in 1983 and completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology in 1988. She completed a Fellowship in Body Imaging, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Vanderbilt University in 1989. She returned to University of Ottawa and became Head of Abdominal Imaging for radiology residency training which developed her interest in education.
Dr. Lum has been actively engaged in leadership roles within both the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and at London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care since coming to Western in 2000. As Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Program (2001-2003) she became involved with Postgraduate Medical Education and has continued on as the Director of Abdominal Imaging for Radiology Resident Training at Victoria Hospital from 2005 until the present. Most recently Dr. Lum has also participated as Medical Leader for Abdominal Imaging CT, US & MRI. In June of 2008 Dr. Lum was presented with the Resident's Choice Award for her Outstanding Commitment to Radiology Education.
Dr. Lum was appointed as Acting Chair, Department of Medical Imaging effective October 1, 2008. In a short period of time, Dr. Lum has implemented a number of positive changes in the areas of education and professional staff development. She has also formalized the leadership and membership of key department level Committees. Dr. Lum is actively engaged in reviewing and implementing administrative and governance changes within the Department of Medical Imaging with a focus on building on the strengths and contributions of faculty and staff.
Dr. Lum's dedication, proven ability as a leader and passion for academic medicine all combine to make her an excellent choice to take on this role.
