Professor Emeritus Dr. R. Alan Richardson, the founder of the Department of History of Medicine and Science at The University of Western Ontario, has passed away at the age of 80. Dr. Richardson joined the Faculty of Medicine in 1967 and taught students in several faculties until 1992, when he became Professor Emeritus.
Prior to coming to Western, Dr. Richardson completed his doctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin with an investigation of Charles Darwin's biological theories and this area of research remained a lifelong passion.
