Physician Examiners Needed

We're seeking licensed, practising physicians to get involved in the Fall iteration of Medical Council of Canada's Qualifying Examination Part II. The MCCQE Part II is a 14 station Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and a physician examiner is required for each station. The exam has doubled in size in the past two years, so we're more in need than ever for physicians to perform this important community service.

The MCCQE Part II assesses the competence of residents; specifically the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for medical licensure in Canada, following a minimum of 12 months' supervised postgraduate medical training and prior to entry into independent clinical practice. The MCCQE Part II includes problems in Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Preventive Medicine and Community Health, Psychiatry and Surgery, as well as in allied disciplines considered essential for competence in general health care as defined by the objectives developed by the MCC.

The two exam dates for the fall are SATURDAY OCTOBER 25 AND SUNDAY OCTOBER 26, 2008, from approximately 7:00 am until approximately 6:00 pm (we're asking people to commit to one day or the other, not necessarily both). There is a small honorarium per day and lunch, snacks and coffee breaks will be provided. In addition, MCC provides mileage reimbursement for those traveling more than 40kms each way, and single night accommodation for those traveling from distant areas. You can also collect Mainpro and RCSPC credits for examining!

Remember, in order to examine for the MCC, you must have an LMCC number and have been in independent practice for at least three years (meaning you must have passed this exam at least 3 years ago!).
