Dr. Bertha Garcia Appointed Vice Dean, Education

Dean Carol Herbert has announced the appointment of Dr. Bertha Garcia as the Vice Dean, Education for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
As Vice Dean of Education, Dr. Garcia will oversee all educational activities within Schulich Medicine & Denitstry and will lead a revised Education Office structure that will support undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, the Bachelor of Medical Sciences program, dentistry and graduate studies.
Dr. Garcia will also oversee the undergraduate medicine curricular changes, working with the Curriculum Committee and the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education to ensure a fully integrated four-year curriculum, including integration across the Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network (SWOMEN) sites.
Dr. Garcia is currently the Chair and City-Wide Chief of Pathology for Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph's Health Care, London. She is recognized as an exceptional educator and has been awarded the Schulich Dean's Award of Excellence in Teaching, the Edward G. Pleva Award, and the 3M Teaching Fellowship. Her term as Vice Dean is effective from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2011.
