Dr. John Murkin, Professor of Anesthesiology in the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry has been appointed to the Protocol Review Committee (PRC) of the National Heart and Lung and Blood Institute, a division of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Murkin will serve as a neurocongitive expert, and is the only member of the PRC from outside of the United States.
"I am pleased to be able to provide a Canadian perspective on the proposed cardiac surgical multi-centre trials which will be evaluated," says Dr. Murkin.
But that wasn't the only recognition that Dr. Murkin received. He has also been awarded the 2008 Research Recognition Award from the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society.
In a congratulatory letter, Dean Carol Herbert and Victor Han expressed their pride in both of these recognitions as they bring added prestige to Dr. Murkin's research program, his department and the faculty.
