Dr. Sandhu Named Fellow of the American College of Dentists

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario is pleased to announce that Dr. Harinder Sandhu, Associate Dean and Director of Dentistry, has been inducted as a Fellow of the AmericanCollege of Dentists (ACD). Fellows are selected based on demonstrated leadership, ethics, and professionalism in the dental profession. This year approximately 200 Fellowships were awarded worldwide, and Sandhu was one of ten Fellows from Canada. They were honoured at the 2007 annual meeting held on September 27 in San Francisco, California.
Sandhu was appointed as Associate Dean and Director of Dentistry July 1, 2006. He received his dental education in Amaritsar, India, followed by a doctorate from the University of Ottawa in 1982. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the College of Dentistry at New YorkUniversity and specialty training in periodontics at LomaLindaUniversity, before joining Western as an Assistant Professor in 1987. Sandhu has also served as Chair of the Division of Periodontics and of the Dental Admissions Committee, among other roles. He also maintains an active periodontal practice.
The AmericanCollege of Dentists (ACD) is the oldest national honorary organization for dentists, and is regarded as the "conscience of dentistry." Its members have exemplified excellence through outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to dentistry and society.
