Dentistry Class of 2011 Welcomed
Friday, August 31, 2007
This year's class of 55 students was chosen from 671 applicants. The Director of Dentistry, Dr. Harinder Sandhu commented on two aspects that set this class apart from past years. The first is that there are more women than men. The class is made up of 30 females and 25 males.
The second thing that distinguishes the Class of 2011 is the high level of academic achievement already acquired by the students. Dr. Sandhu commented "we have the highest number of Honours, Masters and PhD graduates in our entering class of any school in North America." Fifty-one of the 55 students hold degrees, including one with a PhD, four with Masters, and 42 students with Honours Bachelor degrees in a variety of disciplines.
The class was greeted by Dean Carol Herbert, who spoke about patient-centred care, and the important role that dentists play in a health care team.
