Kelly McShane is an Associate Professor in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University).

Dr. McShane received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in 2007 and completed a post-doc at the Centre for Research on Inner City Health at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. She is a licensed organizational and clinical psychologist in Ontario. In addition, she has completed additional training in Mediation, Just Culture, Promoting Professionalism (Vanderbilt), Change Management, Lean Six Sigma, and Labour Relations.

At TMU, Dr. McShane teaches change management, team dynamics, interpersonal conflict, for both undergraduate and MBA students. She is also a core faculty member of the Masters of Health Administration in Community Care, where she teaches Management.

As a researcher, Dr. McShane works in partnership with workplaces in the areas of organizational and employee wellness, civility, and culture. She also works in partnership with community partners to evaluate and disseminate their evidence-programs, currently with Writers Collective of Canada and Progress Place. She is currently exploring international work to support communities to: (i) implement programs to support employment and (ii) develop innovative training programs for healthcare professionals.

Her professional mantra is “doing academia differently,” and she actively seeks out secondments in the workforce. She recently completed a 12-month secondment as the inaugural Workplace Civility Specialist at Southlake Hospital (Newmarket), and previously held a similar role at TMU. She maintains an active consulting practise focused on workplace consulting and coaching.
