Chandlee C. Dickey, M.D. is Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical Director, Student Mental Health, Western University.
She majored in East Asian Studies at Oberlin College in Ohio before beginning medical school. Her prior research career focused on understanding the underlying neurobiology of social cognition deficits in schizotypal personality disorder using neuroimaging and behavioral tasks. She was the first to demonstrate gray matter abnormalities in any personality disorder and describe deficits in facial emotional expression and prosody in schizotypal personality disorder. She was a national leader in psychiatric education through sharing competence development tracking systems and creating innovative courses. She was recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Psychiatrist Award for Education from the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award from Harvard Medical School in 2018, and inducted into the American College of Psychiatrists in 2017.
Dr. Dickey joined the Schulich faculty in October, 2018 and was the Chair of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Chief of Psychiatry at St. Joseph’s Health Care London and Physician Department Executive at London Health Sciences Centre until October, 2023. Under her direction, the department expanded by 11 net new positions; solidified the main residency program; emphasized physician wellness and equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization with new leadership roles; and supported the development of morbidity and mortality improvement rounds.
In her current role, she is leading strategic planning efforts to improve student mental health on campus.
