Profile
Dr. Anthony Nazarov, PhD, PMP, is a neuroscientist with a research focus on PTSD, moral injury, and social cognition. He is currently the Associate Scientific Director at the MacDonald Franklin OSI Research Centre, an Allied Scientist at Lawson Health Research Institute, and Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Western University and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. Prior to joining the Lawson Institute and Western University, he was a defence scientist at the Defence Research & Development Canada, Department of National Defence, investigating psychological resilience and mental health in Canadian Armed Forces personnel. Dr. Nazarov completed his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at McMaster University and has expertise in behavioural and neural aspects of social cognition in individuals exposed to psychological trauma. Dr. Nazarov is interested in exploring the interplay between psychological trauma, moral transgressions, and how we make sense of the social world. Specifically, he is interested in understanding how we can better identify, treat, and prevent moral injury and related operational stress injuries. Dr. Nazarov is also interested in how we can leverage technology and big data analytics towards furthering our understanding of treatment response. Dr. Nazarov's research has been funded by Veterans Affairs Canada, CIHR, and Canadian Institute of Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMHVR), among others. He is currently an appointed Co-Chair of the Centre of Excellence for PTSD Moral Injury Community of Practice. His other interests include knowledge translation and research participant engagement – he is a co-founder of ParticipAid, a research participant engagement platform.
