Day Treatment Program
The Day Treatment Program of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care Program offers a two week assessment of children and adolescents, between 10 and 17 years of age, who require more intensive services than available through the Outpatient Program, but who do not require hospitalization. The anticipated length of stay is 2 to 16 weeks.
If treatment goals are identified, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy and/or pharmacotherapy will be offered according to the needs of the youth and the family, in a structured therapeutic environment.
Children and adolescents also participate in the school component of the Day Treatment program. Co-ordination with the community school is undertaken to assist in a timely return to that setting.
Assessment and treatment are provided by an interdisciplinary team which includes various disciplines, such as psychiatry, psychology, social work, child and youth counseling and nursing.
