Dr. Tanya DeLyzer completed medical school and her Plastic Surgery residency at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. She then went on to complete a Breast Reconstruction Fellowship in Toronto encompassing all techniques for reconstruction, including microsurgery. Dr. DeLyzer also completed additional training in Total Burn Care at the Ross Tilley Burn Centre in Toronto. Her clinical area of interest is in all types of breast reconstruction, particularly in the setting of radiation, and complex revision cases. Her practice also includes reconstruction of complex wounds, including post-oncologic resection (sarcoma, gynecology etc), and lower extremities. She is also the Divisional Burn Care lead. Her specific research interests are in post-mastectomy radiation fibrosis in breast reconstruction, clinical and patient-related outcomes in breast reconstruction, and surgical education, specifically competency based medical education.
