Giving without hesitation
Jennifer Parraga, BA’93
When Dr. Gregory Chernoff was asked to consider supporting the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, he had no hesitation or reservation in doing so.
A resident alumnus of the distinguished and nationally renowned clinical program, Dr. Chernoff is grateful for the training that he received, and he decided to make a donation of $25,000 to support a resident research award.
Named the Dr. W. Gregory Chernoff Impactful Presentation Award, it annually supports a resident who is deemed to have made the most impactful presentation at the Department’s annual research day.
“Nearly a quarter of my practice has been dedicated to research,” said Dr. Chernoff. “I remember very well winning the Canadian Original Clinical Research Award during my final year of residency and still display the award in my office 25 years later, so when the time came for me to give back, a research award seemed most appropriate.”
Fittingly, Dr. Chernoff attended the 2019 Research Day serving as a keynote speaker, so he had the pleasure of seeing the award presented for the first time. The recipient was Dr. Peng You, PGY4.
