Inaugural 2019 Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Retreat
On March 5th, 2019, Dr. Danielle MacNeil directed the first London Regional Cancer Program Head and Neck Cancer Disease Site Survivorship Retreat.
This event centred around a multidisciplinary discussion of ways to improve services to Head and Neck Cancer patients from diagnosis through treatment and long-term.
OBJECTIVES:
To learn about the unmet needs of head and neck cancer survivors.
To develop strategies and plans to address the unmet needs of head and neck cancer survivors at the London Regional Cancer Program.
To summarize the issues related to patients; physical challenges, psychosocial challenges, and ongoing care.
The retreat was professionally facilitated by Peggy Roffey and featured an Internationally renowned expert in head and neck cancer survivorship, Dr. Jolie Ringash, Radiation Oncologist Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Invitees included head and neck cancer patients and their families, oncologists, dieticians, dentists, oral surgeons, nurses, supportive care staff, family care providers, radiation therapists, social workers, Speech language pathologists, physiotherapists, patient advocates, occupational therapists, audiologists, rehab medicine specialists, psychiatrists, cancer researchers, and spiritual care givers.
