Neuroscience Research Day 2025

The Society of Neuroscience Graduate Students (SONGS) is thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our 7th annual Neuroscience Research Day (NRD) on February 20th and 21st, 2025. We invite all trainees, faculty, and staff interested in neuroscience research to attend, regardless of their home department.

NRD 2025 will be a dynamic two-day event featuring talks from a variety of disciplines in neuroscience and offering exciting opportunities to learn, share, and connect.

Event details below:

Day 1: Thursday, February 20th from 5:00 - 7:30pm - Cognitive Caregiving: Empowering Dementia Caregivers and At-Risk Individuals through Neuroscience, a community-focused event that will include:

  • Poster Session: Graduate and undergraduate students studying aging, dementia, memory, Alzheimer’s, or related topics can present their research and practice engaging with a lay audience. A $200 prize will be awarded for the best poster.
  • Science and Community Booths: Share your research, recruit participants, or provide resources for community members, particularly those impacted by Alzheimer’s or dementia.
  • A keynote lecture by Dr. Mariko Sakamoto.
  • Brain Art Exhibit: A showcase of creative works inspired by neuroscience, welcoming submissions from individuals across all departments and career stages. A $200 prize will be awarded for the best neuroscience art.

 

Day 2: Friday, February 21st from 9:00am - 5:00pm – Neuroscience Research Day, an academic focused event that will include:

  • Two WIN Research Spotlight talks from Dr. Angela Roberts and Dr. Caroline Nettekoven
  • Funding/Grant Writing Workshop: How to make your grants and funding applications open, accessible, and equitable.
  • The highly anticipated Great Debate, this year’s topic: “Does AI enhance or hinder creativity and innovation in neuroscience research?”
  • A keynote lecture by Dr. Matthew Hill.
  • Graduate students will also have the opportunity to present their research in oral data blitz sessions. Several $200 prizes will be awarded for the best oral presentations.
