Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology
Alison Allan, PhD, Graduate Chair of the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, and her team were recently awarded a CIHR Collaborative Health Research Project (CHRP) for their project entitled, "Analysis of Circulating Tumor Cell Heterogeneity using a Multi-Marker Microscale Capture Approach as a Tool in the Management and Treatment of Cancer". The grant provides $689,700 over three years.
Congratulations to Tyler Beveridge, PhD Candidate, who has been asked to submit an illustration from his prehypogastric ganglion research to the next edition of the Gray's Anatomy textbook.
Pinki Nandi, a Postdoctoral Scholar in Dr. Peeyush Lala's lab, was chosen for an oral presentation in the "Hot Topics in Reproduction" session during the Society for Reproductive investigation (SRI), which took place in Montreal from March 18-19. She presented her abstract entitled, "Decorin Over-expression by Decidual Cells: A Novel Blood Biomarker in Pre-eclampsia''.

Congratulations to Tasha Ahmad, PhD Candidate, for successfully defending her PhD thesis entitled "Cannabinoid CB1 Transmission in the Mesolimbic Reward Pathway" under the supervision of Steven Laviolette, PhD.
Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Congratulations to Laila Schenkel, Postdoctoral Fellow, on receiving a top poster prize at the 2016 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting, which took place in Tampa, Florida in March. Her poster was entitled, "Clinical Utilization of Genome-wide Methylation Testing in Pediatric Patients".
