Schulich proud moment in history
Chil-Yong Kang, PhD, professor emeritus, Department of Microbiology and Immunology and his team developed the first and only preventative HIV vaccine based on a genetically modified killed whole virus. They also successfully completed Phase 1 Clinical Trials with no adverse effects in all patients. The results hold tremendous promise for success of the final phases of clinical testing. It is currently the only HIV vaccine developed in Canada currently in Clinical Trials and one of only a few in the world.
