Congratulations to the Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies and BMSc Classes of 2018. The School's new alumni officially graduated on June 14 as part of Western University's 311th Convocation.
Alumnus Dr. John Kelton, MD'73, received an honorary degree at the ceremony. He is the Executive Director of the Michael G. DeGroote Initiative for Innovation in Healthcare at McMaster University, and previously served as Dean and Vice-President of McMaster's Faculty of Health Sciences for 15 years. Dr. Kelton addressed the graduates, emphasizing the importance of kindness in their personal and professional lives. "The accounting of your life should be about your empathy, your compassion, your kindess," he said. "We are built for amazing feats of support, caring and kindess."
During the ceremony, Assistant Professor Sarah McLean, PhD, received the Marilyn Robinson Award for Excellence in Teaching, and Assistant Professor Marjorie Johnson, PhD, was appointed as a Professor Emeritus.
