MPH goes to Washington
Recently, students from the Master of Public (MPH) Program had the chance to explore Washington D.C. for a class field trip. For two action-packed days, they had the unique opportunity to meet with, and learn from, senior officials at a number of public health organizations including the American Public Health Association (APHA), USAID in Global Health and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
During the tour of APHA, the students were welcomed by Executive Director Dr. Georges Benjamin. He was joined by eight representatives from the APHA who together provided an inside look at the work of the organization. Meanwhile, Wade Warren, senior deputy assistant administrator of the Bureau for Global Health and four members of his team introduced the students to the work of USAID in Global Health. The tour of public health organizations was capped off with a visit with representatives of PAHO including Enrique Jacoby, advisor on Nutrition and Physical Activity on Fighting Obesity in the Americas.
It wasn't all work and no play for the MPH students as they explored the history and culture of Washington, bonding with their classmates outside of the busy school environment.
