A message from Kelly Gutpell, PhD Candidate, and Chair, Graduate Student Representatives
Hello fellow graduate students,
First and foremost, I’d like to wish you all a happy new year. I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and is now settling in to the new term. I am the Chair of the Graduate Student Representatives at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry, and would like to take this time to share some of the exciting things in store for 2014.
An important initiative underway for us this year is to increase the professional and social relationship with medicine and dentistry undergraduate students at the School. Although we all belong to the same faculty, there are few opportunities to meet students from these other areas.
We are working with students from medicine and dentistry to plan events throughout the year to strengthen the network across all of the School’s students.
As the medical and research climates change, collaboration between clinicians and researchers is becoming increasingly important and we would like to start fostering these collaborations right from the level of trainees. To start, we have organized a trivia night on Thursday, March 7 at the Grad Club - watch for more details on this event soon!
On behalf of the Graduate Representatives, we welcome any feedback from you. If you have any questions or concerns, please make sure you contact your departmental graduate rep or feel free to get in touch with me any time. Again, welcome back and have a great 2014!
Sincerely,
Kelly Gutpell, PhD Candidate, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology
