Message from Andrew Watson
Greetings everyone and happy new year. Welcome to the inaugural edition of the new graduate and postdoctoral studies newsletter, Current Affairs.
We are proud of your accomplishments and we plan to use this newsletter to celebrate and promote your achievements, share news and information about your programs, funding and events.
As one of our trainees, you are responsible for generating the new discoveries and therapies that allow our School to become one of the best research-intensive medical and dental schools not only in Canada, but the world. This newsletter will become one of our most important vehicles for sharing your research advances and your stories.
As you know, London Health Research Day is being held on March 18; it offers you a unique training experience to present your research to your peers, judges and industry leaders. By participating you will enhance your own presentation skills readying you to present at national and international conferences. At the same, it allows faculty and research leaders from across the School and the community to find out more about the tremendous work being undertaken.
Thank you to those who submitted an abstract for the Day. Decisions on who will be offered a poster or platform presentation will be released in mid-February. If you’re interested in attending the day as a guest, click here to register.
Being a graduate trainee or postdoctoral scholar is a unique experience. The pathway may seem uncertain at times, but it will lead you to a great career. Every discovery changes the world. Be sure to take advantage of all the assistance available to you as you progress through your studies.
I look forward to connecting with you each month through a message in the Current Affairs newsletter. If you need to get in touch with me, or any member of the Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral team, please feel free to email us at gradstudies@schulich.uwo.ca.
We hope you enjoy the first issue of Current Affairs.
