Biography
After graduating from medical school and receiving training in Psychiatry, Dr. Scanavino underwent research training at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, attending the programs of Master’s, doctorate and postdoc. He also got additional training in the Center for HIV Education, Study and Training, City University of New York. He attended the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research course from Harvard Medical School, United States. He was a University of Sao Paulo professor from 2018-2021. Dr. Scanavino was appointed Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry at Western University in August 2023. His research interest involves themes such as compulsive sexual behaviour, sexual disorders, HIV risk behaviour, sexual violence, risk behaviour for violence, severe mental illness, and education on psychiatry and neuroscience. He consistently publishes and collaborates with researchers from different countries.
