Dr. Currie serves as the Director of the Interfaculty Program in Public Health, and a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Currie earned a PhD in Public Health from the University of Alberta in 2012. Prior to joining Western University in 2024, she held a faculty position at the University of Lethbridge for 12 years, where she spearheaded the development of the graduate public health program.
As a social epidemiologist, Dr. Currie's research investigates how social experiences get under the skin to impact health, behaviour, and biology. Her research examines the developmental origins of health and disease, and addictive behaviour among youth and adults.
