Research Interests

  •  My major interest is in biostatistical research as applied to problems which arise in epidemiology, health care research, and clinical trials. Recent examples include the investigation of the robustness of standard statistical methods to violations of the assumption of statistical independence, the development and evaluation of inference procedures for the analysis of family data, and inference methods for the kappa statistic.
  • I have a special interest in cluster randomization trials, and am co-author (with Neil Klar) of the text "Design and Analysis of Cluster Randomization Trials in Health Research" (Arnold Publishing Company, 2000).
  • Recent collaborative research has involved linkages with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland and the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, South Korea.
