Biography
Luis Limo is an internationally educated dentist with an MSc in Public Health from Peru.
Driven by his clinical dentistry background and a fervent interest in shaping oral health policies, Luis decided to further his expertise by pursuing a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University. His research journey has been both impactful and inspiring.
Luis's research has centered on the profound influence of access to dental care on oral health and multimorbidity. His dedication to this vital area of study led him to the prestigious platform of the 2023 Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) and the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR) in Portland, Oregon. There, he presented a significant portion of his groundbreaking research, effectively contributing to the discourse surrounding oral health.
During his tenure as a graduate student, Luis also displayed his strong commitment to education. He actively engaged with the Center for Teaching and Learning at UWO, honing his skills in this arena.
Luis's pursuit of academic excellence was further recognized when he was awarded the 2023-24 Student Research Award by CADR-NCOHR. This esteemed honor not only acknowledges his outstanding contributions but also affords him the opportunity to represent Western University at the forthcoming International Association for Dental Research (IADR) General Session in New Orleans, Louisiana. This recognition is a testament to Luis's dedication to advancing dental research on a global scale.
Now, Luis continues his academic journey in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, where he has embraced a new challenge—a PhD position in One Health. His journey is one of passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare practices and shaping the future of dental research.
