CIHR Registration Reminder - Deadline August 15, 2012
Thursday, August 2, 2012
Registration Phase Instructions: http://www.cihr.gc.ca/e/35672.html
Points to note about the budget:
1. The minimum amount available for this funding opportunity is $440M (i.e., $220M per competition) over the multi-year terms of the grants. This amount may increase subject to the availability of funds.
2. It is anticipated that this will fund a minimum of 800 new grants per year (i.e., a minimum of 400 per competition).
3. Within the overall OOGP budget, there will be a specific funding envelope of $25M, i.e., $12.5M per competition, over the multi-year terms of the grants for large grants. In each competition this is equivalent to approximately $2.5M per year for five-year grants. Large grants are defined as those within the top 2% of grant value within the competition and will therefore vary with each competition. Therefore individual grant applications requesting a total of $12.5M or more from CIHR will be withdrawn.
4. Equipment will not be funded. CIHR will not be funding equipment through its Open Operating Grant competitions until further notice.
Canadian Common CV: Online Webinar (highly recommended as a first step before starting to manage the new CCV): https://ccv-cvc.ca/indexresearcher-eng.frm
The first of two informal sessions, for users to express their problems and concerns to share tips with other users, was held on Thursday July 19th at Western.
Another session is coming up on Friday, August 10, 2012 at LHSC, VH, B2-119 (2-3 p.m.). I have attached minutes from the July session, a helpful presentation (by Genome Canada), which demonstrates how the CCV may be used to support CIHR grant applications, and an overview document, that could prove useful for working with the new Canadian Common CV.
