Biography
Dr. Ahmed Hegazy is a critical care physician and cardiac anesthesiologist at London Health Sciences Center. He completed his anesthesia residency and clinical fellowships in cardiac anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, and critical care medicine at Western University prior to be being appointed as faculty in July 2014.
Dr. Hegazy previously served as the Cardiac Surgery Recovery Unit Education Director, Competence Based Medical Education Lead, and was the inaugural Chair of the Competence Committee for the Division of Critical Care. He holds a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, Advanced Perioperative TEE certification from the National Board of Echocardiography, and is dual Royal College certified in both anesthesia and critical care.
His areas of interest include post-cardiac surgery care, competence based medical education, resuscitation practices, and post-cardiac arrest care. He is also an educator of point-of-care ultrasound and transesophageal echocardiography.
