Dr. Jennifer Vergel de Dios

Biography

After finishing medical school at the University of Toronto, Dr. Vergel De Dios completed her anesthesia residency at Western University. This was followed by a MEDICI Global Health fellowship with her studies focusing on global maternal mortality and she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics at the University of York in the UK.

As a senior resident, Dr. Vergel De Dios volunteered with the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society International Education Foundation (CASIEF) to teach anesthesia residents in Rwanda and completed an internship at the World Health Organization headquarters in their Essential and Emergency Surgery program.

Her global health involvements have included CASIEF and TSAM and she developed the VISPS program in our department.

She was the Competence by Design (CBD) Lead for our department from 2016-2018 and the Director of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) for Postgraduate Medical Education for Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry from 2018-2022.
