‘A Measured Approach to Planning for Surgeries and Procedures during the COVID-19 Pandemic’ document identifies criteria for reintroducing scheduled surgical and procedural work as well as basis for prioritization. Included in the criteria are PPE supply, physical distancing, maintenance of 15% acute care capacity, and human resource availability.

Royal College Update
The Royal College has provided ‘Guidance on meeting training requirements in the era of COVIC-19.’
- Guide 1 for time-based programs
- Guide 2 for competency-based programs

Reaffirmation of completion of training is required for exam eligible candidates (attached)
Royal College written examinations for final year and subspecialty residents are being tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2020.
Medical Council of Canada Part I examinations (MCCQE I)
- Scheduled beginning June 1 as a computer based examination – many of our incoming PGY1s will likely take the opportunity to complete the exam prior to their July 1 start
