COVID-19 update for the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry community - December 9, 2021
Dear Schulich Medicine & Dentistry Faculty and Staff,
Further to the communication from Western University, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry remains committed to ensuring the ongoing health and well-being of faculty, staff and students, especially during these extraordinary times.
We are equally committed to ensuring that students safely complete their studies this semester and that our labs are properly maintained.
Mindful of these ends, effective Monday, December 13 through to the scheduled closure of the University on December 22, all on-campus faculty and staff that can work from home without impacting the completion of the students' semester are encouraged to do so. In cases, where students require faculty and staff supports, it remains our expectation that these supports will be available to our students on-campus through to the University's closure on December 22.
Hospital-based faculty, staff and learners are expected to follow hospital protocols as they are released, with the recognition that staff members capable of working from home are encouraged to do so.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as required, including any plans for the new year.
In the meantime, everyone is encouraged to continue to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols including: getting a booster vaccination when eligible, practising safe social distancing, wearing masks while indoors, and limiting non-academic group gatherings to 10 people or less.
If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor or our Human Resources representatives.
Your continued respect for these safety measures and engagement in the completion of this semester is both recognized and sincerely appreciated.
Sincerely,
John Yoo, MD, FRCS(C), FACS
