Schulich Awards of Excellence - Staff
Nominations for the 2024 Awards are open until March 10, 2024
Schulich Awards of Excellence are designed to demonstrate a tangible appreciation for the outstanding work and commitment of staff members in five distinct categories: innovation, inspirational leadership, continuous excellence, spirit, and newcomer. Nominations will be adjudicated by a committee chaired by a staff member and composed of stakeholders that are knowledgeable of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry environment.
Eligibility
- All regular full-time staff who have been employed by the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry for a minimum of two years are eligible (UWOSA, PMA, or PMA eligible) for nomination. Individuals being nominated must be employed at the School at the time of the nomination.
- All faculty, learners, students, residents, and staff in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry may nominate an individual.
- Award winners may only be renominated in the same category 5 years from the year they received their award; however, previous winners may be nominated for different awards.
- No recipient can receive two awards in the same year, whether as an individual or a member of a team. The adjudication committee has the authority to move a nomination into a different category if they view it to be more applicable to the criteria in a different category.
- Unsuccessful nominees that remain eligible are encouraged to apply the following year and the nominator does not need to acquire updated letters of support unless they feel it will significantly enhance the nomination.
- Typically, 5 awards are granted each year to be distributed amongst the categories in keeping with the depth and breadth of the nominations received in each category. Since these awards are prestigious, the adjudication committee reserves the right to withhold the distribution of an award in any one category in the event the number of nominees is unusually low, and/or all nomination packages received fail to demonstrate an expected level of excellence.
- Recipients will receive a cash award of $2,000 per individual award and $2,000 per team award.
- Recipients will also receive two complimentary tickets to attend the Awards of Excellence Dinner, one for themselves and one for a guest. For team awards, everyone named as part of the team in the nomination package will receive two tickets up to a maximum of 10 total tickets per team award.
