Another year is upon us
As we begin a new academic year, the Windsor Learner Equity & Wellness (LEW) team looks forward to supporting all of the learner’s wellness, academic and career goals. A reminder that the LEW Office is a safe space for learners that is confidential, with no affiliation to assessment, designed to support students in many different areas including personal, academic and career support.
The year started with an hour session welcoming and preparing the incoming clerks for clinical training. It is a time of great excitement, as well as some trepidation. While you are no longer in the same building, please know that LEW is just as accessible for support, and we are happy to connect with you at any of the hospital sites when needed.
It was a pleasure to meet the Schulich Medicine Class of 2022 during the Medical Foundations Week. We look forward to welcoming each of you more formally in a one-to-one meeting to better explain the mandate of the LEW Office, the supports that are available, and to begin discussions around career planning.
The LEW Office is now using an online appointment booking system through Western Career Central. This system is easy and convenient for students to self-book appointments. However, appointments with LEW can also be made at any time and drop-ins are welcomed and encouraged.
The Office has sessions planned around wellness and career planning for the upcoming term and academic year.
We want to remind students that balance is key to strong mental and physical health. We encourage students to reach out when needed and remind them to care for themselves and each other.
In closing, we’d like to offer a special welcome to Dr. Maggie Rebel, the new Associate Dean, Learner Equity & Wellness, Dave Cormier, the Acting Manager, Schulich Medicine – Windsor Campus, and Dr. Larry Jacobs, the newly appointed Associate Dean, Schulich Medicine – Windsor Campus.
