My experience at the Windsor Campus has been phenomenal and has far exceeded my expectations. It has been an amazing learning experience thanks to fantastic, dedicated faculty and endlessly supportive classmates whose passion is inspiring.

The best word to describe my time at Schulich Medicine would be "perfect." I couldn’t imagine better learning oppportunities, preceptors, staff and patients. I have learned to love medicine and have made friends that will last a lifetime. Some of the most memorable people include both staff and preceptors.

In particular, Mike Farquar and Kelly Ducharme, who went above and beyond their duties to help us, especially during some of the most difficult of times. They would check in on us, were always patient and, most importantly, kind. In terms of preceptors, Drs. Abo-Aisha, Awuku, Bagga, Kadri, Flemming, Warwaruk, Pozzi and Wasserman were some of my favourites. They were fun to be around, excellent teachers and cared about our well-being.

The opportunities for leadership, organizing trips, and for mentorship are bountiful at the Schulich Medicine — Windsor Campus. The facilities, staff and across-year network of friendships are all top notch, and I don't think you could find another medical school experience quite like this.

I can't say enough about how great the Windsor Campus experience has been for me, from the incredibly supportive and welcoming staff members to the family-like relationships we have with both upper- and lower-year students. We are fortunate to have an ideal community that helps learners flourish.

Kara Picco, Medicine Class of 2020

I have had an incredible experience thus far as a medical student at the Windsor Campus. The sense of community among the student body, faculty and administration is unparalleled. We truly are a family, and I have felt supported every step of the way. I am appreciative of the ample opportunities to network with health care professionals within our community and give back to the Windsor-Essex region through outreach work as a medical class.

My fondest memory is the 2018 Awards of Excellence celebration. I was honoured to receive a Learner Peer Award of Excellence alongside incredible individuals, and proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Schulich Medicine — Windsor Campus.

I was thrilled when the satellite campus was established in Windsor, a positive addition to our community, and envisioned myself studying here in the future. Reflecting on the past 10 years, I can confidently say that I am proud to be where I am today, studying at my dream medical school.

Dr. Navpreet Dhillon, MD'18, Family Medicine, PGY1

The Schulich Medicine — Windsor Campus has not only grown and flourished as an institution but has impacted the lives of countless individuals. With every class that has graduated, there has been an exodus of patient-focused, empathetic and socially conscious physicians into the community.

I was extremely excited to start my education at the Windsor Campus and knew that this would be an unforgettable experience. But at the same time, I had an apprehension of the unknown. I did not know anyone in Windsor and was completely unfamiliar with the city. However, I was pleasantly surprised, as I very quickly found a family in my class of 38 students and fell in love with the charm of Windsor.

My colleagues are exceptionally kind, empathetic and brilliant, and each one of them has been deeply invested in ensuring their classmates' wellness. Walking into class every day to be greeted by this group, and then going on to experience all the successes and tribulations of medical education, has created a robust network of personal and professional relationships. It has been a truly phenomenal experience, and I am ever thankful for all that Windsor has offered my classmates and me.

In particular, I remember the unique paediatric dermatology lectures presented by Dr. Mark Awuku - his wealth of knowledge and patient stories, combined with a slide projector from the 1970s was a truly unique experience. His laugh was contagious, and we all came away with considerable knowledge and inspiration to last our entire careers.
