Resident Profile - Dr. Jean-Marc Beausoleil
Born and raised in Tilbury, Ontario, Dr. Beausoleil, PGY2, Family Medicine decided to pursue his medical degree while studying to be a paramedic. A proud member of the Windsor community, it was his passion for the city that led him to complete his studies in Windsor. 
What is your education background?
I have a Bachelor's and Master's in Biology from the University of Windsor; a Paramedic Diploma from Fanshawe College; my MD from Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
My experiences with the University of Windsor's volunteer first response team reignited my interest in health care; then during my experiences in the Paramedic program I decided I wanted to have my own patients to follow over time and help keep healthy.
Why did you choose to pursue your residency at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry?
My amazing clinical clerkship experiences in Windsor, as well as my abiding love for the area as a local.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from your patients so far?
Everyone's journey is unique, and trying to compare them to someone else can be both dangerous and does them a disservice.
What has residency taught you about yourself?
Between residency and my daughter, I have learned that sleep isn't as necessary as I used to believe.
What has been your greatest experience in residency to date?
Whenever a patient has taken the time to really thank me for something concrete I've helped them with.
What would your fellow residents find most surprising about you?
I have five apps on my phone that help track the phases, positions, rising and setting of the moon and sun. No one, including myself, knows why. I promise, I am not a werewolf or a druid.
What is your favourite place to travel to? Why?
Anywhere with great food and a new culture to immerse myself in. Singapore is amazing. Or Disney World of course.
Who has been your greatest mentor in life and why?
My daughter, who teaches me day-after-day new ways to look at the world.
