Enjoying the perfect blend
It’s hard to believe it’s already December. First semester is slowly coming to a close. Or perhaps I should say quickly coming to a close; time truly flies when life is eventful.
Our first semester has been filled with work, fun, milestones, and so much more. The Medicine Class of 2020 is settling into the medical school routine, making friends, establishing routines, and hopefully loving every moment of it.
My class, the 2019s, are getting used to being experienced med-schoolers and enjoying getting to know our newest colleagues.
Finally, we have no doubt that our peers from the classes of 2018 and 2017 are impressing physicians in our regional hospitals and clinical sites.
We have some new and exciting developments in Windsor this year. We are bringing Teddy Bear Hospital to the Windsor Campus and hope to have the first event with an early years day care this month.
Several new clubs have been established and, as usual, many intramural teams have been successfully formed by our students.
Hosting Anatomy Day for local high schools was a highlight of November. Many members of the Class of 2019 volunteered to be anatomy guides for high school students interested in the field of medicine. A whole morning was dedicated to showing students around our anatomy facilities and giving them an introduction to basic human anatomy in a systems based manner. Overall, it was a fun filled event for everyone and we hope to continue this tradition next year.
Our students have been taking every opportunity to enjoy what the city of Windsor and community has to offer. Several members of the Class of 2020 attended a film at the Windsor International Film Festival as a post-exam celebration and students from all four years attended a Michigan football game on November 5, which proved to be great fun. It was my first Michigan game, and it was a surreal experience being in the largest football stadium in the United States! The fun events didn’t stop there as we all enjoyed the November Windsor Integration Weekend and annual Holiday Party.
We have been working hard, and we have been making time to enjoy ourselves this semester; we hope to continue doing so throughout the year. As our winter holidays approach, I want to wish everyone a wonderful break filled with love and warmth.
