The Department of Pathology and Laboratory of Medicine would like to offer congratulations to Akeida Elliott-Benjamin, who has received the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA) Student Delegate Top Manuscript Winner among the 2022 class of student delegates.
Congratulations to Dr. Anita Woods from Physiology and Pharmacology and Dr. Charys Martin from the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology for recently being hired in teaching scholar positions at Schulich. These positions allow these exceptional educators more time in their workload to perform work in the area of scholarship of teaching and learning.
After 34 years of dedicated service, Dr. Kamilia Rizkalla has retired from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine effective February 1, 2023. Kamilia was a valued member of the hematopathology, genitourinary pathology and cytopathology teams. Her expertise in hematopathology and contributions to teaching and mentorship will be sincerely missed.
Congratulations to Dr. Francisco Olea Popelka who worked as part of a multisectoral and transdisciplinary team composed of the Indonesian Ministries of Health, Home and Agriculture and the Association of All Health Offices; the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union); the University of Western Ontario, Canada and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) that convinced this established consortium of mayors, the Asia Pacific Cities Alliance for Health and Development (APCAT), to join forces and adopt and implement a One Health workshop with fellow Asia Pacific regional city and district mayors and decision-makers in preparation for the November 2022 G20 meeting in Indonesia.
