Celebrating your achievements - February 23

Congratulations to the Schulich community on your recent achievements:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory of Medicine would like to offer congratulations to Jeff Lovell, who has completed his MSc in Pathology. Dr. Mark Darling is Jeff’s supervisor. The title of Jeff’s thesis is "S100A7 as a biomarker for predicting transformation in a potentially malignant lesion: lichen planus."

Congratulations to Jonathon Keow, PGY5 for being named a recipient of a Canadian Association for Medical Education (CAME) Rising Star – Certificate of Excellence Award. This award is intended to recognize learners who have demonstrated a commitment and/or passion for medical education.

Congratulations to Bertha Garcia for being recognized by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada with the AFMC Mentorship award and to Lorelei Lingard for receiving the AFMC President’s Award for Exemplary National Leadership in Academic Medicine.

Warm congratulations to Dr. Harinder Sandhu, a well-respected member of Schulich’s dental community, on being elected Chair and President of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. As a past Vice Dean and Director of Schulich Dentistry – and one of our longest-standing educators – Dr. Sandhu has made an immeasurable impact on the hundreds of dental trainees who were fortunate to learn under his mentorship.

We have no doubt Dr. Sandhu will bring the same leadership, patient-first approach and accountability to the RCDSO, which protects the public interest by setting and maintaining standards for dental education and practice in Ontario and oversees nearly 11,000 dentists across the province.

The people of Ontario are lucky to have Dr. Sandhu at the helm of the RCDSO, and our Schulich dentistry community wishes him the best.
