Fake websites: Be aware of web scraping attempts
Dear Colleagues,
We are aware of a recent web scraping incident at the School, resulting in the creation of a fake departmental website. Web scraping is a sophisticated technique that uses software to scan and copy website content and data with malicious intent.
These websites may appear in Google search results, and they may be used to collect personal information or embed malware or viruses, as users believe they are interacting with an official School website.
Be aware of scraping and phishing attempts. Check for official website URLs and look for unusual content. If you encounter suspicious websites, please report them immediately to privacy@schulich.uwo.ca.
