The Distributed Education Network hosted a networking education session for Discovery Week coordinators at the end of March. The two-day event was designed to update and educate coordinators about program changes, receive their feedback and assist the School’s community partners in delivering a successful Discovery Week program.
Dr. George Kim led an energetic and engaging morning session on the generational differences of learners. Other sessions included discussion about Discovery Week evaluations, best practices and opportunities, and small group discussions.
Discovery Week is a mandatory one-week placement for first-year Schulich Medicine learners to provide them with the experience of learning, living and working in communities throughout Southwestern Ontario. The 2015 program will take place from May 25 to 29 and June 1 to 5 for 171 students from London and Windsor.
“At the workshop, our community partners were pleased to preview the new video about Discovery Week and look forward to sharing it with physicians in their community hospitals and family health teams,” said Patricia Potter, manager of Distributed Education. “We are very appreciative of the large number of physicians and health care providers in communities throughout Southwestern Ontario for their assistance in educating these future physicians.”
