Dr. Sarah Morrow Receives Dr. Joseph Gilbert Research Contribution of the Year Award - Dr. Sarah Morrow is the 2019 recipient of the Lawson Impact Dr. Joseph Gilbert Research Contribution of the Year Award. Dr. Morrow received this award based on the study “Effect of Treating Acute Optic Neuritis With Bioequivalent Oral vs. Intravenous Corticosteroids: A Randomized Clinical Trial,” which was published in JAMA Neurology in June 2018.
Dr. Elizabeth Finger Appointed CNS Director of Research - Congratulations to Dr. Finger on her appointment as Director of Research for Clinical Neurological Sciences (CNS). Dr. Finger is a member and scientific officer for the Behavioural Sciences B review panel for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and is recipient of an Early Researcher Award from the Ministry of Research and Innovation of Ontario (2015-2019). Dr. Finger serves on several departmental and institutional committees and is eager to advance the research mission in CNS.

Dr. Shannon Venance appointed CNS Director of Education - Congratulations to Dr. Venance on her appointment as Director of Education for Clinical Neurological Sciences (CNS). Dr. Venance is actively involved in education across the learning continuum. She brings a collaborative approach and expertise in change management with a quality improvement lens to her most recent roles as the Director, Schulich Medicine Postgraduate Medical Education, CBME Implementation and Assistant Secretary to the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools.
Faculty Receive AMOSO Funding - Congratulations to Dr. Alexander Khaw and Dr. Neil Duggal for securing AMOSO funding for their research proposals: "Predictive Value of the AlphaFIM for Functional Outcomes in Intracerebral Hemorrhage versus Ischemic Stroke" and "Validation of a Novel Hand Rehabilitation Program and Dexterity Assessment Device in Patients with Cervical Myelopathy" respectively.
Dr. Chris Walting Receives Funding for Research in Education - Congratulations to Dr. Chris Watling and his team on receiving an internal funding grant for their education research. Dr. Watling's project is entitled, "Exploring Indigenous Learners’ Motivation and Pathway into the Healthcare Profession:
A Visual-Based Narrative Inquiry."
